- Awakening to Earths Wisdom
Breathing as a Practice of Sovereignty
Sovereignty begins in the breath.
Not as a declaration of control over life, but as a return to conscious participation in how we meet it. The breath reminds us that while we may not be able to control everything happening around us, we can become aware of what we are carrying, what we are feeding, what we are releasing, and what we are choosing to breathe back into the world.
In Awakening to Earth’s Wisdom, the breath is not presented as passive. It is alive with power. It connects us to the body, the Earth, the Divine, the collective field and the deeper truth of who we are. It shows us where we are unconscious and invites us back into awareness.
This is sovereignty.
To become aware of the breath is to become aware of the state we are living from.
- Are we breathing from fear?
- From urgency?
- From contraction?
- From old stories?
- From inherited beliefs?
- From collective noise?
- Or are we breathing from presence, love, alignment and trust?
The answer may change from moment to moment. That is not a problem. The practice is not to remain perfectly peaceful at all times. The practice is to notice when we have left ourselves, and to choose, with compassion, to return.
The breath gives us that choice.
It is automatic, and yet we can meet it consciously. It belongs to the body’s natural rhythm, and yet we can guide it. This is one of its great mysteries. We are being breathed by life, and we are also invited to breathe with intention.
In this way, the breath becomes a place of co-creation. A place where surrender and choice meet. Where we remember we are not powerless.
When we are unconscious, we may absorb the world around us without discernment. We may take in fear, stress, judgement, pressure or emotional heaviness and hold it in the body as though it belongs to us. We may breathe out the same fear we have taken in, adding to the collective field without realising.
But when we become conscious, we can choose differently.
We can breathe in and say, “This is what is present.”We can breathe out and say, “This is not mine to hold.”We can breathe in and feel the body.We can breathe out and return to centre. We can breathe in the intensity of the world and breathe out love, peace, unity and coherence.
This is not denial, it is discernment. It is not pretending that life is always easy. It is choosing not to become another vessel for unconscious fear.
There is a sacred responsibility in this. Not heavy responsibility. Not a burden. A remembering. A recognition that the energy we live from matters. The breath we breathe into our homes, relationships, conversations and communities matters.
We are always contributing something.
Our state ripples. Our presence speaks. Our breath enters the field.
When we practise sovereignty through the breath, we begin to notice what we are allowing into our system and what we are sending back out. We become less entangled in what does not belong to us. We become clearer in our compassion. We can love without absorbing. We can care without collapsing. We can witness without becoming consumed.
This is especially important for sensitive people, intuitive people, healers, parents, leaders and anyone who feels the world deeply.
There is a difference between being open and being unprotected, being compassionate and carrying everything. There is a difference between feeling the collective and losing yourself inside it.
Breath brings us back to sovereignty because it brings us back to the body. And the body knows.
The body can feel when something is not ours, when we are holding on, when it is time to release.
The out breath becomes the practice.
“I choose to let it go.”“I choose to surrender.”“I choose to release what does not serve my body, mind and energy system.”“I breathe love back into the field.”
These are not simply words. They are intentions carried on the breath. They are ways of reclaiming our participation in the energetic exchange of life.
Sovereignty does not mean separation. It does not mean building walls around the heart. It means being so connected to your own centre that you can meet the world without losing yourself. It means remembering that you are part of the collective, but you are not here to unconsciously carry the collective. It means knowing that your breath can be a force of love.
A filter.A prayer.A return.A choice.
The world does not need more people breathing from fear without knowing it. It needs more people who are willing to pause, notice, soften and consciously breathe something different into the field.
This begins within you.
Not someday. Not when life is perfect. Not when you feel fully healed.
Now.
With this breath. This inhale. This exhale.
This moment of remembering that you are sovereign, connected, powerful and free to choose what you carry, what you release and what you offer back to the world.
